This week, the Clubhouse Android app will be available in India and other countries

The voice-based social networking platform Clubhouse is preparing to roll out its beta Android app to Android users worldwide after releasing it on May 9 in the United States. Faced with a drop in iOS downloads, the business announced in its town hall on Sunday that Clubhouse will be available on most Android devices by May 21.

Clubhouse announced on Twitter that the expansion will begin on Tuesday with Japan, Brazil, and Russia, with more nations to follow throughout the week. Nigeria and India will receive the Android app on Friday morning, according to the tweet.

Since March 2020, the app's iOS version has been released. Despite initially being available exclusively by invitation, it grew to 10 million people in the first year. Following the last fundraising round, the company was valued at $4 billion. According to research firm SensorTower, its pace has slowed recently. In January, Clubhouse had 2 million downloads, then increased to over 9.5 million in February. Its downloads dropped to 2.7 million in March and then to under a million in April. Several factors have been blamed for the erratic development, but the Android rollout may assist give it a boost for the time being.

Clubhouse is also up against Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, and other social media titans, which all have their own Clubhouse clones. Instagram Live, for example, now allows users to switch off audio and video during live streaming, and Twitter has launched Spaces, which allows users to join virtual rooms and hold audio chats in groups. Facebook, Linkedin, and Spotify, for example, are all working on their own versions. Clubhouse should expand now since the competition is only going to get stiffer, and it already has a user base that enjoys having chats away from the clutter of other social media platforms.
